Rich Pellegrino

Hello everybody,

I recently discovered this interesting artist called Rich Pellegrino. He was born in 1980 and lives in Providence, Rhode Island. He works as an illustrator with 10 published children's books under his belt. He paints with gouache, watercolour, and acrylic; sometimes he'll combine all 3 in a painting or they'll be separate. The painting below is called "Peter". It was painted with gouache on hardboard. I really love the use of bright colours on the face; these help make the subject pop out from the background and give him a surreal look. The use of cool colours in the face are really unique; in a lot of Pellegrino's paintings he'll make the noses purple. The way he paints the background is really expressive and wavy; I like how it swirls around the subject and slightly covers his shoulders. Here are some more paintings; they're called "Marty McFly" and "Wonka" (Rich Pellegrino enjoys painting famous movie characters).
